Supporting Seniors Through Life’s Biggest Transitions: Our Day at the Senior Resource Fair
Supporting Seniors With Real Answers - and Real Connections
One of the most meaningful parts of our work is helping seniors and their families navigate major life transitions with clarity and confidence. That’s exactly what made our time at the Senior Resource Fair so special.
Throughout the day, our team had dozens of thoughtful conversations with seniors who had important questions about housing, finances, and planning ahead - especially around Property Tax Transfers under Proposition 19 and capital gains considerations after the loss of a spouse.
This wasn’t about selling homes. It was about education, reassurance, and being a trusted resource when people need it most.

Helping Seniors Understand Prop 19 & Capital Gains
Many of the seniors we spoke with were unsure about how Prop 19 works - and whether transferring their tax base is possible if they decide to sell and move.
We spent time walking through:
- How tax base transfers may work when moving to a new home
- Common misconceptions about Prop 19
- What to consider before making any decisions
- Why timing and proper guidance matter
We also had meaningful conversations with individuals who had recently lost a spouse and were unsure how capital gains might apply if they decide to sell their home. These are emotional, complex moments - and having clear information can make all the difference.

Building Trust Through One-on-One Conversations
What stood out most was the number of seniors who simply needed someone to listen.
We answered questions, shared examples, and helped attendees feel more informed - whether they planned to make a move soon or were just gathering information for the future. These conversations reinforced why we take a long-term, education-first approach, especially when working with seniors and their families.
Connected to the Senior Community - Because It Takes a Village
One of the best parts of the day was connecting with other organizations dedicated to serving seniors. From housing and healthcare resources to social groups and lifestyle support, it was inspiring to see so many people working toward the same goal.
We also made some new friends with our table neighbors from SIR (Seniors in Retirement) - proof that great conversations happen both across the table and behind the scenes.
Being deeply connected to trusted professionals and organizations allows us to better support our clients - not just with real estate, but with referrals and resources that truly matter.

More Than Real Estate - It’s About People
Events like this remind us that real estate decisions don’t happen in isolation. They’re tied to family, finances, health, and lifestyle - and especially for seniors, the right guidance can bring peace of mind.
We’re grateful to be part of a community that values education, connection, and support. And we’re always happy to be a resource - whether that means answering questions, pointing someone to the right professional, or simply being there when they need guidance.

Thinking Ahead or Have Questions?
If you - or a senior you care about - have questions about:
- Prop 19 and property tax transfers
- Capital gains considerations
- Downsizing, rightsizing, or planning ahead
We’re always here to help you understand your options and connect you with trusted resources - at your pace, and on your terms.
